Okay – I got up off the ground and we are back in Larry’s veggie garden today. It is Saturday after all – we spend that day in the garden, right?
Alien onions. Resistance is futile – you will be assimilated!Burpless cucumbers are so polite, you can bring them out for the ladies from church without fear of social embarrasement from the antics in which other types of cucumbers engage, like burping names or the entire alphabet.Ace green peppers – though we leave most of them to turn red and rich.In just a few weeks, there will be enough of these guys to start making refrigerator pickled hot peppers. In my usual generous style, I will be sharing the recipe. These little darlings are my favorite – jalapenos!Portofino zucchinis. Empty out your back seat before you come over, ok?Yellow squash. Double ditto on that back seat thing. There is a lot more down there, but these are the most photogenic veggies right now. I am saving a nice big bowl of new red potatoes for Cathy’s Potato Ho-down, my entry for which will be up on Monday. Enjoy your Saturday!
Thanks for your visit to my SkyWatch Friday post, Dlyn.
I’m on the road and in the field doing another photo trip chasing the bloom of our Rosebay Rhododendron (white blossoms) in the northern area of the Southern Appalachian mountains, and with lodging that does not have the most reliable internet service. I won’t be home again for a few more days yet, but I did finally develop and upload a few images to update my July 7 Rhododendron post.
Sunrise this morning was a washout, literally, with locally heavy thunderstorms–looks like the rain won’t ease up until later morning. I’ve just had breakfast and its still stormy out there, so I wanted to try and get around to all who visited my SWF, and others too while I still have good internet access. So, please forgive this cut & paste with a small bit of personalization added–I do appreciate your visit and your comments.
Welcome to Skywatch Friday! I thought you had a good post, but I like these garden photos too.
Once again, thanks for your comment and visit. I will be returning to see you blog in more detail as I have time.
Jim
I am so jealous of your zucchini and squash! I’ll have to photograph a couple of things in my garden so you can tell me what they are. :) So far only the tomatoes are growing like gangbusters.
So lovely but I like your joke about the burpless cucs…hilarious girly.
Your garden photos are killing me. I didn’t plant vegies this year. But I have an area that I’m cleaning out of roses that didn’t do well and thistles that did. Maybe if I prep it really well this year, I can go back to vegie gardening next year. Better for the planet . . . and my health.
I am drooling!! …. thanks for the Wordle.net link …. that is so cool! I like your 2nd one best. I saved it to my favorites. No time to do it now while I’m working overtme but I will do my own version soon.
Such gorgeous and vivid green shades! I so want a little garden.
What a great bounty you have and will be having! I’m impressed…and envious, quite honestly.
Looks wonderful! I’m going to drive up to see you with an empty back seat real soon. :)
xoxo,
mary
Thanks everyone _ I honestly can’t take a lot of credit for the veggie garden. It is all Big Lar!
I do have an excellent idea for a blog giveaway in another few weeks – come and win a big box of squash! Kind of like having a virtual backseat because you stopped and looked at my blog. :)
Chica – check out my blog Monday morning. There’ll be something there for you!
