Wild Phlox that is. I am not a huge fan of domesticated varieties of tall phlox. Because of our humidity, they often get a sort of mildew on them and they bloom late, which means the foliage is looking kind of ratty by the time they get any flowers. They grow well for some gardeners, but I have never had a lot of luck with them.
But wild Phlox? No problem. Not that I actually grow them mind you. They grow all by themselves and are everywhere right now. The colors are amazing. Every shade of purple you can imagine. And whiteAll kinds of tie-dye patterns.Ruffly petals.Little pink bloomsAnd big splotchy onesI love them all.And I’m not the only one!
Dlyn – you so need to come be my gardner!
Love the photos.
=)

Love the colors. Good way to start my Friday!

Simply beautiful.
Wish I had them near my house.

Those are great pictures. I’m especially in love with the butterfly one!
Oh, beautiful! Good capture on the butterfly, too.
How gorgeous! I love butterflies and planted Lantana this year and it’s not doing very well. Either that or the resident squirrel who keeps eating off my purple petunia flowers is helping itself to my Lantana.
Wow! Super photos – like all of your photos are!
Just where does this wild phlox grow? I don’t think I have ever seen so many different colors!
BEAUTIFUL… Love it!
love ALL your pictures you are amazing~
Hugs Laura

rachael – me too! phlox phlox phlox I don’t think it would feel the same if it were spelled flox though.
Only if you move someplace cooler than Florida, Ashleigh. And I was checking out your flickr photos today – just beautiful stuff!

We have a little carpet of low-lying phlox by the mailbox, but it bloomed out two months ago. Yours is so pretty! Alright, not yours, the wilderness’ phlox.
Beautiful pictures today. I love the one of the butterfly.
Absolutely gorgeous.
