Note to self

Do not, under any circumstances, look in the mirror again, until you feel a whole lot better than you do right now.

Ugh

We are all sick – from the little girl grandbaby, to the little boy grandbaby to the Mom of the babies and the Grandma and Grandpa of the babies. Do not come to visit us, because we seem to be very contagious. For entertainment, we can watch Anna sneeze. When an 8 month old baby sneezes, there is like a 1/4 cup of snot that just flies out of the front of their face – it is truly awe-inspiring.

I am making a big pot of Spicy Chicken Vegetable Soup and if that doesn’t make us all feel better, I am not sure what will.

Hope your weekend is going better than ours – see you in the morning!

How can I possibly blog…

When I have these eyes pleading with me to go and do stuff?
C’mon Gran-ma
Play with blocks?
I’m waitin’ for ya Gran-ma
So before blogging, I had to go and help make this:
There is no way that blogging is more important than this, is there? [I am instructed to mention that the “high, high tower part falled off” before we could take the picture. It was very impressive and I am sorry that you had to miss it.]

Just wait till I get you home…

This is a photo taken yesterday when the esteemed [or perhaps more properly steamed? steamy?] Governor of my state resigned from that post after his arrest for being involved in prostitution. Presumably as a recipient, since the news is referring to it as a “call girl scandal” and he is clearly not the girl.

But you can read all about that in the news if you want to. What I can’t help but wonder in looking at this photo, is what is his wife doing there? I mean really – his political career is in the toilet, so she doesn’t have to be by his side to look good to the voters. And I am not saying that in the same circumstance, I would never forgive, though I think it would be more a question as to whether I would be there for him during his long recuperative period, followed by years of physical therapy and learning to use his new prothesis. But would I stand next to him while he announces the scorched earth he has made of my life? Not so much. And mainly because I have the distinct impression I would not be able to keep an expression like this one off my face. They say the camera doesn’t lie…

Wednesday, Wonderful Wednesday!

Despite my utter distraction with small people and despite the fact that I seem to have been infested with germs by certain persons who shall remain nameless and are forgiven, I did manage to get a few nice shots this week.
In the summer, bamboo is my sworn enemy. It is invasive and nearly impossible to kill. In the winter though, the stalks take on lovely subtle colors and forms:

No Wednesday can go by without a shot of a bird:

This time of year, our little creek runs nearly all the time. It is literally just a few feet from my back door. We are in the late winter thaw – freeze cycle which yields images like this:

And this:

Finally, another frequest visitor. A friend gave us some peanuts to put out near the birdfeeder and this guy found them right away:
