Just wait till I get you home…

This is a photo taken yesterday when the esteemed [or perhaps more properly steamed? steamy?] Governor of my state resigned from that post after his arrest for being involved in prostitution. Presumably as a recipient, since the news is referring to it as a “call girl scandal” and he is clearly not the girl.

But you can read all about that in the news if you want to. What I can’t help but wonder in looking at this photo, is what is his wife doing there? I mean really – his political career is in the toilet, so she doesn’t have to be by his side to look good to the voters. And I am not saying that in the same circumstance, I would never forgive, though I think it would be more a question as to whether I would be there for him during his long recuperative period, followed by years of physical therapy and learning to use his new prothesis. But would I stand next to him while he announces the scorched earth he has made of my life? Not so much. And mainly because I have the distinct impression I would not be able to keep an expression like this one off my face. They say the camera doesn’t lie…

I completely agree with you. I would NOT be standing there either. He could deal with the public embarrassment on his own.

    I also hate Tammy Wynette’s song…
Stand By Your Man. It makes women sound weak and helpless. At least that is what I think.

    That is an interesting look!
I also would like to know what it the world she is wearing around her neck? Aren’t scarves like that out? (if not they should be!)Is she going to use it to hide her face when they exit the press conference?

  3. PG says:

I agree completely, once it was decided he was going to resign… later.

Oh, and Lori… I am pretty sure it’s a State of New York flag wrapped around there ;-)

I would love to know what is going through her mind when that pic was taken: “You scumbag, we’re SO over with!” or “Wonder how much alimony I can get from the jerk?” Or my biggie would be, “Don’t evah touch me again until you’ve been tested for God-knows-what diseases and been sanitized!”

Good to hear I’m not alone in thinking that “standing by your man” makes the women look weak.

I totally lost respect for Hillary Clinton for putting up with that. Much as I’d like to see a women president, it can’t be a doormat.

I wonder if they’ll find his cold, dead body in a back alley somewhere with that scarf of hers stuffed in his mouth…

I heard that she didn’t want him to resign!! Which makes me wonder if she is a wife who was so in love with being the wife of the Gov. than she was willing to put up with ANYTHING. Which kind of makes her a prostitute too, doesn’t it? But, I love heyjules idea of the “next chapter.” BTW, I have a (happily married) sister, who has always “joked” that she would never be divorced, but she might be a widow!

  8. Kellan says:

Ha – me either! I don’t know what the heck she is doing there! I wouldn’t have been there either! Take care – Kellan

Gosh, I have to agree. I couldn’t stand there…although I did try to “stand by my man” when my first husband confessed to cheating on me twice and wanted to leave me for his latest amour. I begged him to go to marriage counseling with me. We had two kids, 5 and 7. He didn’t want to bother with it all and left. 18 years later, I see the blessing in it all! And yes, he is lucky that he still has all of his limbs. Ha!

  10. Flea says:

We had a family friend growing up who threatened her husband that if he EVER cheated on her, she’d sew him into the bed sheet while he was sleeping, and the last thing he’d remember seeing would be her standing over him with a baseball bat.

  11. Weezee says:

Oh you can just bet I wouldn’t be standing there supporting that scumbag. He got himself into it, he can go to the podium by himself. I can’t understand these women who subject themselves to even more humiliation!

  12. Jennifer @ The Cubicle's Backporch says:

Her look totally says “You mother f*&ker”

I agree, my husband could figure it out himself if he chose to go that route. Idiot.

And why is the ‘call girl’ getting so much attention? CNN was saying how she’s such a good person and how she wants her own music career, blah blah blah. Who cares?

If I were in that situation…HE would not be standing there. He would be dead!

    Just sayin’

  15. Burgh Baby's Mom says:

I’m confused by it, too. I mean, what’s in it for her? What does she gain by standing there? Why isn’t she punching him?
