TGIF – Wherein we speak of many things

It has been an odd couple weeks around here. Larry is off for a bit, not unusual for us since carpentry tends to dry up in the colder months. Then last week, we were notified that my company lost the contract with the client for whom I was working. Not to worry – I have interest already from two companies I have worked with in the past, so I don’t think I will be out of work for long. Still, it is very weird for both of us to be at loose ends at the same time. It discombobulates my equilibrium you know?

Even Riley can’t figure it out. He goes and stands in his crate where he spends his time while I am working, waiting for his cookies. He comes out to look for me and scampers back to his crate at the time when I normally start working, as if he can jump-start me into giving him his treat, and getting my butt to working so that I can afford to buy him more. He has a very firm grasp of economic theory, that dog.

And I am working to get my blog moved to my own domain and deciding if I want to move to WordPress instead of Blogger. I hate making decisions like this. There are pros and cons for both and I still haven’t decided which way to jump. [input from other bloggers appreciated]

I did use the time to start a new project that I have been meaning to get going. Go here to see my new mobile blog. At some point during each day, I will upload a photo from my phone – nothing earthshaking – just a little tidbit. Let me know what you think, ok?mobile_header
And remember my cousin, the artist who turned one of my photos into a watercolor for my Birthday last year? You can find that here. Yesterday he sent me a scan of another watercolor he did of one of my photos. I can’t imagine being able to do this:Have a great day – I am going to go bake some bread.goldfinch_watercolor

  6. Daryl says:

I can. THAT is how I wanted to be able to paint and since I cant, I photograph….

And I like the idea of a mobile blog … seeing you on the go will be fun

  7. Pearl says:

the watercolor is SO pretty! your cousin is so talented!

I’ve also been considering moving from blogger to word press. I’ll be lurking here to see what people say about making the move. My brother strongly advocates moving to Word Press, even bought me the book “Pro Blogger” for Christmas (they are Word Press proponents), but I started a blog there, considering making the jump, and am just not comfortable enough with the format to do it. I’m pretty technologically slow and inept.

  9. Ness says:

Dlyn, you are just one savvy technie dudette! I’m lucky I can get around on Blogger. Roger baked bread yesterday and the apartment smelled so good! Have a great weekend!

  10. Olly says:

Oh no, you are both home all day together? I’d strangle my husband after a few days of that. Or…maybe bake bread, lol!

  11. Ruth Hull Chatlien says:

That story about Riley is so cute.

Be sure to tell us if you move the blog.

  12. noble pig says:

Since I don’t do blogger or wordpress, I have no idea! Hope the bread was good.

  13. Ellyn says:

That Mark has a pretty amazing talent.

My interview is up if you want to go take a look.

Heading over to your mobile blog right now.

  14. Country Girl says:

First, that painting is beautiful. Your cousin is one talented artist.

Second, Kacey is the one to ask about WordPress. She’s on the road right now, though.

Third, I’m on the fence about the mobile blog. I think it’s because I don’t understand it. But that’s just me. There’s so much I don’t understand!!

  15. dlyn says:

Kate – kind of a little slice of life. No edits or fooling with the photo – it comes straight off the phone, right onto the blog. I may stick with or not – just depends on how it goes.

Olly – he spends a lot of the day down in his shop so I don’t think up too much for him to do :)

Riley thanks his fans as always!

  16. Egghead says:

I am loving that painting of the bird. Your cousin is so talented. Since he works for Hallmark does he make these into cards? He should or you should start your own line of cards.

  17. Weezee says:

    wow gorgeous painting!
