This is must have fallen off the edge of a strawberry pot that I keep near this spot in the summer – a little baby sempervivum.
This is lichen. I looked it up and this appears to be “FOLIOSE”, leafy lichen or possibly “CRUSTOSE”, crusty lichen. I am betting it’s more likely I have the crusty kind. I’m just glad it wasn’t in the refrigerator.
A pot that has seen better days, but might make it through one more summer. It’s ready and willing anyway.
We get just about every kind of woodpecker here. This is a Red Bellied Woodpecker – a female. Yes, I know her belly isn’t particularly red, but that is what she is called just the same.
I took this last night – simultaneous sunset and moonrise.
Finally – my personal favorite of the week. Still working on the right settings to really freeze the drops and flying water – this one is getting closer. It does not completely suck anyway.
Oh my gosh your pictures are getting so good! Canyou little sister have a copy of that moon suuset one? :D I love that!
I just can’t type
Great job on the water shot. You either need to lower your shutter speed to freeze the water or raise it to blur the water. Could be vice versa I forget.
Great Pics D!!
What camera do you have??
We upgraded to a Nikon D80 last fall when we got Tracie’s for her.
It is a LOT of camera for me… However, I am learning it. Doug and I took a digital photography class in January but I think I would like to take a specific Nikon class.
Have a Blessed Day D!!
Hugs, Cheryl
W – yes you can and for free even. Typing, you are on your own.
A- you are a big help, LOL!
C- I have a Nikon D70. I would love to have to the D80, [just look at my Christmas list back in December] but it is just more than I can justify spending right now. I got an awesome deal on the D70 on eBay – the body and two lenses, plus bags and all kinds of other stuff for about what the two lenses would cost new, so I was happy with it. It is not as good as the D80, but pretty darn nice for a newbie.
D….
The D70 was the one I had before we upgraded… It is a GREAT camera!
When we went for Tracie’s we had planned to get her the D70 like mine, because she always HAD mine. But when we got to our favorite camera shop, they said they didn’t carry the D70 anymore and the D80 replaced it.
I kind of pouted a bit because Trac was getting the new one.. LOL So Doug asked if they would take the D70 body for the D80 body in on a trade… They said YES and I kept my D70 lenses. They took enough off the price for the trade in that it was worth it to us.
You really ARE doing a great job with your shots.
I am going to OR the end of June and I can’t wait to get some pics of whales and such.
By the way, Doug got a kick out of your blue jay conversation. LOL
HUGS,
Cheryl
Oh, I love that water shot. Very cool! It’s too danged cold here to go out and get outside photos. Soon though, very soon.
Your photos are really good. When I see them, I realize that my point and shoot has such limitations!
Even so, I do love my camera.
The last two pics are my favorites! I have no camera talent whatsoever. I was in the bathroom when God handed out picture taking talents. lol I really enjoy your pics!

That clay pot looks like it’s just about ready for duty on my deck. I LOVE when they start to look old and used. That’s when they finally have enough personality to deserve to be around all the pretty flowers.
Great photos!

Great photos!
I’m seeing a weekly trend here ……. on Tuesday afternoon or evening, Larry is wondering “Where’s Dlyn?” …….looking out the window he sees her hunched over, taking picutres for an hour or two of a little spot in the creek, trying to get just the right splash – at the right time – at the right settings. Just when he’s tempted to shake his head and wonder …?… he remembers the delicious Turkey and Dumplings she made for him the day before …..quite satisfying….. then he heads to the fridg to look for left overs.
Thanks for spending so much time at the creek ….. my favortie is the water splahses too. All your hard photo work is our blessing!

These are great!!!
I love the water one. You should enter that in Kacey’s (www.wineonthekeyboard.com) contest for photo of the month.
We have almost the same picture of lichen. I was going to post it tomorrow! Please remember that I am not copying off of you.
Cool pics! Really like that sunset/moon rise!
I love the water pic, Dlyn! The pics are really really good.
cg – no worries – I always worry the same thing about other people who put photos on their blogs.
CM – like I only do that on Tuesday evenings!
Julie – I had a point and shoot not so long ago – they are a great way to get interested in photography.
thanks everyone – so glad that you enjoyed them!
I love your pictures, especially the red headed bird. I am looking for a new camera.

I need a new camera, it is no official.
Great pictures – you are quite a good photographer! Have a good evening – Kellan
Your photos are great! I need to take a class to learn to use my Canon Rebel. I suck at this photo thing. And I love the woodpecker. :)
Thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment. That’s always appreciated. It looks like we have a lot in common…photos, gardening, cooking, etc…Love your hostas, btw. I’ll be back!
oooo, you’re a photographer! I’m just getting started! I’ll watch and learn. Thanks for visiting my blog. I look forward to getting to know you!
I have a Nikon D40x, just so ya know. Is that what you have?
Hey Natalie – thanks for coming over! I am a wanna-be photographer mostly. We know this from the horrible looking pics I just took of the eclipse. it was fun though. I have a Nikon D70 but I haven’t even had it two months yet – still figuring out SLR and having a great time with it. I delete 300 pics for every one I put on here. Look forward to seeing some more of your pics too – love the ones of your kids.
great photos…I love all of them!!
I love the water shot! I wish I was talented with the camera. I inherited my grandma’s finger-in-the-lens gene, but you, you are gifted.
Wow, your pictures are really beautiful. A few of these deserve a frame and a wall.
Love your photos!!
