Front Door Back Door Meme

I am starting my very own meme project this week. This will be ongoing, and participants can update as often or seldom as they like.

It is a photography meme.
1. Step out your front door and take a picture.
2. Step out your back door and take a picture.
3. Put them on your blog, along with the rules.
4. If there are things in the photos that you particularly like or dislike, you can point them out, or just explain what we are seeing. Maybe changes over the seasons or some junk in your neighbor’s yard that drives you nuts.
5. Tag as many or few people as you like – preferably at least one though.
6. Do it again next month if you like.

Out the front door. Here we can see that I still have considerable garden clean up left to do. Mark’s kick ball is out on the lawn. I drive a minivan. My inlaws live just up the road there.

Out the back door, I am glad to say the garden cleanup is done. Right at the edge of that mulch, there is a drop off into the creek. It will be awhile yet until the trees leaf out.

I am going to tag a bunch of people, just to get things going. If you aren’t interested, no problem, just let me know in the comments.
Ashmystir, Lori, Tara, Alison, Ness, Flea, Kate, Jules, Chris, Weezee, Kellan, olly, Jeanne, bermudabluez, Olivia
And please – if you want to join in, please do and let me know – I just ran out of time or I would have tagged the entire blog world.

It happens overnight

Here in Upstate NY, spring does get here just that quickly. Yesterday, everything was still brown and dead looking. It has been warm the past few days though and last night night we had some nice rain showers. When the sun came up this morning, the world had changed to something quite different.

Baby, it’s GREEN outside!

I am ready for my close-ups

Some birds are a little more needy than others. Most just ask me to take one photo and then they fly on about their business. This Song Sparrow needed a lot of stroking and reassurance about her appearance. She made sure that I was able to get nice shots of her from every angle.

The inevitable “How does my butt look in this” shot“Make sure you get my good side”

Then she was done and flew off to have her legs waxed and her eyelashes dyed. She’ll be back though.

Not everyone thinks Riley is so great

There is one house guest that I have yet to mention. His name is Tux, but I like to call him Tuxie Wuxie. Tux is not completely satisfied with his accomodations here.
This is the main reason. Riley has never had a kitty at his house before. They are mighty entertaining, what with how they scoot back and forth and make some very interesting noises. And Tux has lived with a couple different dogs before and got along with them quite well, even playing with them for hours on end.But for some reason, he doesn’t care much for Riley. “I don’t understand why he doesn’t like me. I am not going to actually bite him or anything. He plays with Daisy and she has been known to bite a little. But every time I try to play with Tux, he says, ‘You sssssssssssssuck’, which is not very nice.”Right after this picture was taken, Tux said some very bad words. He didn’t spell them either. We are hoping that Tux will change his opinion and if that happens, we will be sure to come back and let you know. I don’t think that Riley is going to give up on the idea any time soon.

Whoa! It’s Wednesday!

On my way out the door to take Riley to class, so just a quick explanation for each photo. First are some kind of rusty springs. I have no idea what they are for, but they are down in Larry’s collection of essential items without which he cannot function. I love rusty stuff.

Slothfulness is a sin, but sometimes leads to a nice spring photo, when you never got around to trimming the hydrangeas last fall.

My favorite of the week – a leaf under the flowing creek right at the edge of our property.
