A mystery revealed

You saw them before.

They seemed to come out of nowhere and hover about. When they appeared to be bringing in reinforcements, we felt a little threatened and wondered what, if anything we could do to defend ourselves. But then we discovered that they are actually edible! And then this morning, I traced them to the source. They look particularly innocent when they are babies, don’t they?
I think the key is to pick them when they are still tiny and can’t offer any resistance.

Drive-by Wednesday

Lots going on this week, so my photo processing time has been curtailed somewhat. I like these two though and if I have time later on, I will be back to add a few more.

I think this is a baby Rose-Breasted Grosbeak. It is hard to tell with babies, because they can look very similar, but this one bears enough resemblance to the female that I am pretty sure. He comes around a couple times a day for a little snack.I cut these back a couple weeks ago when they were beginning to look a little worse for wear and now the whole pot of them are springing back into bloom.

Have a great day!

The Procession

It is just getting started. The volume will increase.
For now, they fit in a bowl. Soon they will be on a rampage. Then they will fill pails and buckets and eventually boxes and bags and anything else Larry can find for hauling them into the house. The sink and every large pot I own will overflow. Before it is all done, the freezer will be filled to the very top with stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce, chili starter and various soup bases.
For right now though I am going to enjoy this nice civilized scene. I think I will have a tomato sandwich for breakfast.

Sunday

Lauren’s photo this week. It is very appropriate I think – this is the road home. I know she won’t forget how to find it, but I thought she might like to see how it looked this morning.

Blessings on your day all.
