I have the simple part covered

I was thinking I would do a sort of “blog year end wrap up” today. Meh. You’ve been here, right? So you know – it has been a good year in a lot of ways and a challenging one in others. We went for walks in the woods, we cooked a lot of good food and blogged about it, we talked to birds and the dog, we dressed vegetables up and took photos of them. Part of our family came to live with us for awhile while another part is very far away indeed. A lot of wonderful people amazed me by coming back time after time to see what I am dishing out here – a humbling circumstance, I assure you. The Lord willing and the creek don’t rise, you can expect more of the same in the year to come. There – year wrapped.

Then, my friend Kate had this little gem on her blog this morning and I decided to check it out. It looks fun, but with a smattering of thoughfulness required that seems like a good note for ending the year.simple_wom_logo

FOR TODAY December 31, 2008
Outside my window: Snowing. And a lot of birds at the feeder – it is beautiful out this morning.
I am thinking: That I am glad I didn’t have to drive anywhere in this snow.
I am thankful for: The 2hr IM chat I got to have with Lauren and Ellyn last night. A chatroom isn’t like the being together exactly but we had fun.
From the kitchen: The scent of a fresh pot of coffee.
I am wearing: Black jeans, a Marine PT hoodie and cozy slippers
I am creating: About 10 things, as usual. I will finish one or two I hope.
I am going: No place today. We stay in on NYE usually, watching movies, drinking too much bubbly and eating food that is not at all good for us.
I am reading: “The Fountainhead” by Ayn Rand, “The Brethren” by John Grisham, “The Skies of Pern” by Anne McCaffrey, “Understanding Exposure” by Bryan Peterson and 3 or 4 magazines.
I am hoping: At the top of the list is that Lauren gets back home safely, which makes all my other hopes seem trivial.
I am hearing: A snow plow rumbling by.
Around the house: Is a mess, frankly. I have big plans for a major cleaning over the weekend.
One of my favorite things: In my immediate view – my beautiful Niagara Falls coffee mug. I bought it when the kids sent us there to celebrate our 30th Anniversary.
A few plans for the rest of the week: The aformentioned cleaning. Getting more prints ready to sell. Getting some recipes ready to blog. Setting up the bookshelf stereo I bought Larry for Christmas because he hates trying to play music on the computer, and he doesn’t like setting up electronics either.
Here is picture thought I am sharing:
fem_cardI am not sure what she is thinking, but she is definitely thinking something.

You can find the Simple Woman’s Daybook blog here. She is taking this week off but will return on Monday.

And with that my friends, I bid you a blessed, safe and happy New Year.

It’s obvious what she is thinking ……. ” I am so mad at myself for listening to him when he said …. we’ll be fine here for the winter …. as Mr. and Mrs. Robin waved goodbye on their journey south.”

I LOVE the picture thought you are sharing! And it’s getting a bit messy around my house, too. I may have to actually clean.
This Daybook is a nice way to bring in the new, isn’t it? It happens every Monday.
