I know, I know. A mother is supposed to love all of her children equally and show no favoritism. I do have a favorite though and I just can’t help it.
And, as daylilies go, this one is not considered to be anything really amazing. “Bountiful Valley”. It was introduced in 1979 and doesn’t have a fancy edge or a bold eyezone or anything like that.
It just sits there, day after day for about 6 weeks, churning out one brilliant yellow bloom after another.
Do you blame me?

I have a whole bed of yellows: Happy Returns, Mary Todd, Hyperion, and September Gold. And a bed of the ubiquitous Stella on the other side of the yard. But I like the buttery yellows better.

Hi there. Funny this is your favorite. After my grandpa died 20 years ago, a family friend gave my mom bulbs for these to bloom every summer in his memory. My mom digs them up and takes them with her every time she moves. They’re lovely!
