Thanks for the words of support! Fortunately, I am pretty good about backing up files, so I didn’t lose anything at all. In fact, I am going to browse the internet for crafts involving the use of outdated back up CDs and DVDs. And copies of obsolete operating systems back to 1994. Why can’t I throw them away? Is it some kind of paranoid thing in my ancestry that keeps me hanging on to old technology? Like if the power goes out and we have have to go back to a hand pump instead of the submersible in the well? If some sort of apocalyptic crunch comes, I don’t think Windows 95 is going to do me much good. Or Office 97. Or these floppy disks that I don’t even have a drive for any longer. Still. What if there is something important on there? No – better save them just in case.
So – no recipe today. I am reinstalling the 793 crucial pieces of software I keep on my computer. Can’t leave anything out – what if I need it?
I hope the computer situation is better.
I had to laugh when I read about your backups. When I moved my office a few years ago, I found the disks containing Netscape 1.0.
Good Luck!
I have asked myself those very same questions…what on earth do we save this stuff for???
Yet. For some stupid reason.
We still do!
Good luck with all the reloading!
I know. It’s scary to let go.
Good luck.
P.s. I got the latern that I won. Very very nice. Thank you.
