Riley & the Cocktail Hour That Wasn’t

We had a lovely weekend. It is incredibly cool here for July, and though the veggies and flowers aren’t that happy about it, you can get a lot more yard work done when it is 70 than you can when it’s 85. Larry did all the mowing and got the weeding/mulching/fertilizing and so on done in his vegetable garden, while I made huge progress on the expansion of the front flower garden. By the end of the day, we are ready to enjoy an hour or so on the front porch before we go in for dinner. As we are sitting and relaxing, I feel that someone is staring at me.

Me: Can I do something for you?
Riley: It is cocktail hour, right?
Me: {I can see this coming a mile away} Yes it is, why do you ask?12
Riley: Because I would like a drink. Hmmmmm, now what am I in the mood for this evening?
Me: Water? A nice bowl of water?
Riley: Nooooooooooo. I was thinking more along the lines of a Mojito maybe. Or a Lime Rickey. Something tropical.22
Me: Water IS tropical. You can’t have tropical without water. And I don’t have any limes. Plus, you are a dog and alcoholic beverages are not good for dogs.
Riley: Bleh! I always have to have water.
Me: Sorry dude, water it is. And don’t stick out your tongue – it’s not polite.
42
Riley: Things would be a lot different around here if I were in charge.
Me: I don’t doubt that for a second.32
Riley: It’s not easy, being the dog. 61

Ashliegh, Bud lite doesn’t darken their door ever. Not even for dogs.

Poor Ri-ri. I think he should get a nice glass of vino in the evening.

I also prefer cool summers, I just don’t deal well with heat! The exaggerate heat just wilts me!

Poor Ri-ri. Though I don’t feel sorry for him one bit. I’d trade our 102 degree heat for 70 any day.

Oh man he has been calling his Massachusetts cousins hasn’t he! They always want to share our cocktail hour. I caught Kindle the other day with her tongue stuck waaaaaaay down into a beer bottle. She loves a good IPA!
