Spring afternoon

There is nothing like a nice rainy spring to make everything grow like crazy. We have an embarrassment of riches this year. One day of photos is just not enough when it is this pretty out there.

Honeysuckle is beautiful – this wild one grows on the bank just off the back porch. I read recently that they are rapidly becoming a nuisance because they spread so quickly. Though I love it, I can see why it’s use is often discouraged now – it is coming up all over the place. Down along the big creek, there are huge swaths of these ostrich ferns. I love them so much that a few years ago we went down and dug some to plant up in the shade garden. This is one of the wild ones. This is a hosta called Kabitan and it looks gorgeous this time of year when the color is fresh – especially with the blue vinca that has crept into the area.
Nice enough that it deserves another shot.I think the flower is a type of mallow and I have no idea what the bug/bee is, but they sure look nice together.
Have a great Saturday!

Debbie – I can never get to pose for me when I try to plan it – he just happened along at the right time. It took about 50 frames to get that one :)

    Thanks ellyn!

Donna – I am so glad that you like them. These were all taken with a Nikkor 70-300mm and all on manual mode. I am a newbie to SLR, so I let the camera do the work most of the time and try to learn from it. :)
