oh yum .. and may I have some nice blueberry jam on that or maybe apple butter .. oh I am so glad I had breakfast before I stopped by … enjoy the day and the Soda Bread (regardless of whose recipe it really is)
I made American-Irish soda bread myself yesterday. Yours looks awesome, and I love that last picture. Thanks for sharing, and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
That looks quite yummy. I love the caraway seed picture.
One of my favorite breads. Our principal makes three loaves for the staff every year. He leaves it in the teacher’s lounge with sweet butter at the beginning of St. Pat’s school day. There is a stampede every year. His is just the BEST!
Hopefully I’ll get someone to make your recipe for me. Yum!
so yummy – I had a loaf from Panera and it was terrific
Thank you for including the interesting bit of information about Irish Soda Bread. Truely, it is somewhat Americanized. I have made it for years using currents, instead of raisins – and always caraway seeds. Baking this quick bread fills the house with a wonderful aroma!
You lost me on the raisins! It ought to be against the law to put things in any food that looks like chocolate chips …. but it’s not!

I just made this! Thanks for the recipe! I am not much of a baker so I was pretty excited to make some bread. Mine cooked pretty fast at 400 for the first 30 min. It almost burned, but luckily I checked it. (maybe an altitude difference) Thanks!
Hi Kranbox – glad it worked out for you! Altitude can have a big effect on baking for sure,so I’m glad you thought to check it early.
