Well – I didn’t win win. Like not first prize. I am still pretty tickled about it though.
See this magazine? Gardening How-To, published by the National Home Gardening Club. I have been subscribing to it for probably 10 years or so. It isn’t my favorite gardening magazine, but for only $12 a year it isn’t bad. They send out products for subscribers to test, which I have done frequently and also have monthly giveaways which I have yet to win. Anyway – see way up at the top of the cover? “Photo Contest Winners”
Now look at E. Woohoo – that is me! Honorable Mention! I entered 3 photos on a whim, on the last day you could enter and then forgot all about it until I a letter 6 weeks ago, letting me know that one of my photos had been chosen and I won $75 of organic gardening products.
There it is – down at the bottom of the page!
You may remember seeing it here, back in the spring – my favorite hosta which is called “Kabitan” I love the color and the graceful curve of the leaves. It’s worth another look I think.
So now, between the photos I have sold and this prize, I can say “See honey – buying nice cameras pays off! Right? Right? Honey?”

Congratulations! I subscribed to that garden club for 3 years, never got anything to test, and decided it was basically a come-on. Doubt I will resubscribe, but it’s good to know they weren’t quite the scam I thought.
