Just-about-almost-Wordless Wednesday

All from the shade garden this morning. A big contrast from the riot of color in the sunny spaces, out back we have subtle color and texture.

One of my favorite astilbes, “Sprite”The slugs have not been bad this year, so this Kabitan hosta still looks nice.Japanese Painted Fern – gets nicer every year. The airy flowers are “Palace Purple” coral bells alongside a trailing coleus.

have a great Wednesday!

I love shade gardens…and yours is beautiful!

How beautiful! You were definitely born with a green thumb. Thanks for sharing your pics.

I find it quite humorous that we can’t truly have a Wordless Wednesday …. I think it runs in the family! ; )

Does this blog have a complaint section? Not that I would ever have anything to complain about … I mean, I wouldn’t even bother to mention how the Flower of the DAY has been the same one for over a week (lovely though it is). And the fact that I can’t sleep at night wondering what the difference is between a Green Bean and a Vericot Vert ….. and my go to gardening blog has not answered this burring question. These things are hardly worth mentioning. So, I am just not going to bother. But if there ever was a need in the future to make a very minor complaint … .. well, never mind.

Beautiful pictures today! Don’t let all those buckets get the best of you! ; )

There’s nothing like a good hosta…I actually love that word! Beautiful flowers too!

Your shade gardens just take my breath away. And I really did like your red lily in Kacey’s contest. It was just beautiful.

    lovely!

Beautiful. Neither Sprite nor Japanese painted fern liked my garden, so I’m glad to be able to enjoy yours.

Thanks so much everyone – my shade beds always look better because they are what I can see out the window while I am working and I notice every little thing.

Now – to deal with this complaining commenter*!
1.I have changed the flower a day photo – thanks for the reminder. I guess I should call it “Flower a Couple Times a Week” or “Flower When I Remember” but they don’t sound very lyrical.

    2. “Hericot vert” is French for green bean. This used to mean a specific kind of green bean – more slender than many typical American grown varieties. Now I think it just means they can charge more for them. We grow a variety called “Jade” and they actually look like the French kind – but they are free!

*and for any newer readers – CM is my cousin and I can give him a hard time if I want to. I am nice to everyone else ☺

Well, I can sleep better tonight …. other than the knowledge of knowing I am being ripped off each time I buy Vericot Verts and not Green Beans at our company cafeteria. Slap a French name on something and you can charge over twice as much! And though they may be free at your house it would be an awfully expensive trip from KC to there ….. though worth it I’m sure. I know, ….. you could always have another contest and then as a prize have an all-expenses-paid-trip to see Dlyn Gardens in person …. there ‘ya go! What a great idea! You could have a …. ummm … let’s see … a name that recipe contest! (And that would give me an opportunity to claim my other prize I won …. Ellyn’s homemade bread!) Oh well, I can only dream.

    Love, CM
