…I almost think that taken as a whole, I love my shade garden even more.
One reason is because it is much closer to the house, I see it in more detail throughout the day. It is also my view while I am working and it’s wonderful to rest my mind for a little while by looking at the cool green shade with spots of color.Today it is not looking all that inviting – kind of grey and now that the snow is melted I can see how much work I have to do out there to get things in good shape for spring. So for now, I’ll look at these photos from the past couple summers and look forward to what is coming.
Such a beautiful garden (sigh). If only I had a green thumb. Or at least less of a kill-anything-with-leaves thumb.
Sah-wheet! I wish I had the time to get my garden into shape. :-(
It’s beautiful!
Ok, I’m going out to weed today…
Can I hire you to do mine? =)
What beautiful pictures!
Thanks for going by the Chevy/Autism site!
A lovely garden! Makes me impatient for summer.
Oooh-Oooh! I thought of you today while walking around the side of my house to retrieve my 3 year-old’s bicycle. My hostas- the ones I chopped completely off back in November- they’re sprouting up! Little purple and green shoots pushing through the dirt! I had my doubts, but He is making all things new again!
Your garden is beautiful! I cannot wait to get outside and start my spring clean up!
Thanks everyone – you notice I did not include a photo of what it looks like right now – I have a lot to do out there before it will look like that again!
I love the green variations of shade gardens. What kind of flower is the purple speckled one?
That is a toad lily [Tricyrtis] – they bloom very late, like early October. A great plant – spread out a bit more every year and they are just plastered with blooms.
Those begonias in the bottom picture are gorgeous. Is that a little shrimp plant? And I LOVE the toad lily!! Wow.
In the bottom pic they are both begonias – the red has red flower with burgandy leaves. The yellow is a tuberous begonia and over in the background of that pic is a yellow Reiger begonia. I work at a wholesale plant nursery most springs and the buyers often bring me plants that they know I like which is where all of those came from I think.
