Let’s hear it for consistency! This makes two weeks in a row where I have done what I said I would – we better celebrate while I am on a roll, cause you never know when I might be totally distracted from the whole idea. Anyway – I’ve always enjoyed K. D. Lang & I somehow missed this album previously. She doesn’t just sing a song written by another artist – she totally puts her own spin on it and makes it into something completely fresh. The album contains all songs by Canadian artists and writers – Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Cockburn and Neil Young, plus some others. This is a perfect album for a quiet evening on the front porch with a nice bottle of Pinot Noir and a sweeping sunset, giving way to a gentle summer night.
Here’s the album on Amazon: K. D. Lang Hymns of the 49th Parallel
And a couple of other really great offerings she has graced us with:
Watershed
Absolute Torch And Twang
Shadowland
And now , I am off to get some clean up done in the yard – have a great Saturday!
I LOVED this cd when it came out and played it non-stop-but since my box o’cds is in storgage (for 5 years now?) I’ve forgotten about it…time to search my itunes and see if I downloaded it as well.
Thanks for the memory!
Glad to be of service Sue :) I have no idea how I missed it until just lately, but I’ve really been enjoying it. I’m also trying out Amazon’s Cloud Player – when you download music from them it can also be stored on your Cloud Drive and then play it from any device that you sync up with it. Liking it so far – it is working great on my Droid.
did you see she’s at SUNY in the summer????? I really really want to go….
I have always loved K.D.Lang since way back when. My mother used to listen to her all the time and I secretly listened as well. When she sang Halleliua (sp) during the opening ceremonies at the Olympics she stole the show and I think that was the time I rediscovered her singing. Awesome talent!
LOL….I wasn’t reading at first, and I thought to myself, dang! Donalyn looks like KD Lang!
Kinda like how it was with the mesclun the other day…
Sue – nope, but I’m checking it out now…
Lorna – I loved seeing her at the Olympics!
Lauren – I’m always glad if someone else is more confused than I am – thanks!
You always have the best music offerings. Just listened to all the samples on Amazon. Niiiice.
