It all started here, at the beginning, with Mr Wren making a poor choice.
He changed his mind though when he caught sight of these palatial digs and eventually caught the woman of his dreams. he got married,
and raised a family. And I really wanted to show you the baby birds learning to fly or something, but I guess wrens don’t fool around. One day they were here, with a nearly endless cacophony of baby bird chirping and countless trips by the parents to feed them and they next day it was silent and they were gone. For a good part of the summer, I received the benefit of enjoying their antics and songs and a lot fewer nasty beasties in my gardens. Now I will take down the wren house, clean it and put it away for next summer. Well – I will do that soon – I am not really ready to let go of summer quite that much yet.
Oh, I love happy endings.
I don’t want to take the birdhouse down. Too depressing.
I just love birdhouses. And birds.
I’m not quite ready to let go of summer yet either.
I’ll miss those wrens but ready to let go on summer. I’m in Florida and it’s hot all year round. =D
I was in the back yard this weekend and noticed my empty wren house hanging from the tree and I said to myself ….. “I wonder how Dlyn’s House Wren couple is doing? ” ….. you mind reader you!
By the way, you can get a cute wren for year around in your house at PetSmart! I was looking at them this weekend …. very cute ….. somewhat tempted … but knowing what other members of the household would think …. not the least of them the lady of the house… I passed them by. Nathaniel and I were buying a fish. We bought a blue female Betta and she has been named Alyssa Misty.
Oh how sweet, I just love your little houses.
Bye bye, little wrens! We’ll see you next year!
I’m afraid to put up bird houses. Our cat, Lou, just LOVES birds. It would be cruel, I think. It’s bad enough I put out seed.
…Beautiful bird houses and beautiful photos too! I’ve read that as soon as the babies are ready to leave the nest that the parents lead all of them to a nearby wooded area for them to continue to grow and learn and that that is why they are “suddenly” gone from their house. Like you, I’ve noticed here that they are here and gone but then I do hear them at our wood’s edge afterwards…
…I love wrens… :o)
…Don’t let go of summer yet – we still got a month or two right?
…Blessings…
I love the birdhouses. I leave mine up year around but probably shouldn’t. I was just looking at an empty robin’s nest the other day with my granddaughter and felt the pangs of the summers end.
No, not yet! Nice little story.
I agree.
The end of summer is wonderful but it can be very depressing because we all know what is coming in the near future.
