A Public Service Announcement

I try to be helpful to my bloggy friends whenever I can and today’s post is one I am sure will be invaluable to you.

If you order a set of Calphalon skillets from The Food Network Store they will come packed in “peanuts”. And even though you can tell from the texture that they were those new “green” kind of peanuts, you should not assume they are the dissolving kind like the ones that came from the plant place a few weeks ago. Those packing peanuts disappeared when you put them in water.

From the Food Network Store? Not so much. This necessitated a call to TFNS to see what I should have done and if I had created a toxic substance that would still be negatively impacting the environment during the lives of my great grandchildren. A cheerful young man named Jason took my call. He assured me that the sludgy stuff in the pail could be safely dumped at the edge of the woods where it would “biodegrade” gracefully without harming any plants or wildlife.I guess I just gave it a headstart.

    Looks gross.

  2. noble pig says:

    Oh geez, that’s a real slime-bucket.

    I hope Jason is right.

  3. Trisha says:

How fun! These are probably made of corn – which turns into gunk like this when you put them in water. Still better than the styrofoam which lasts forever in the landfill!

  4. PG says:

too bad there weren’t any grandkids around. Kids would have had a blast with a big bucket of corny sludge!

  5. Ness says:

It looks like something I’ve seen before(definitely not packing peanuts)but can’t remember what it was. Anyway, I learned something new today–who KNEW?

And please share how you are so successful in getting BlogRoll working on your site. I’m trying to add it to my site and it is giving me a fit!

Cathy – that made me LOL!

Ness _ I wish I couldhelp, but all I did was to just do it. Maybe you should just start from scratch? This is the blogroll that comes with Blogger now BTW.

PG – I actually found it to be somewhat fun myself, so grandkids probably would have had a blast. It was soybean sludge according to the cheery Jason. It smelled faintly of peanuts though.

Trisha – I am glad to have it not be rotting in a landfill. Now it is just biodegrading. I am going to go check tomorrow to bee how much biodegrading it has done.

Ellyn – it was gross at all – kind of cool feeling really.

YR – you are officially a member of the bloggy internets!

  9. Olly says:

  10. Flea says:

  11. Weezee says:

very yucky. I wonder if you can remold it into shapes and stuff. Now that would be a granchild fun project!!
