I have been tagged for this before of course, but I haven’t run out of odd facts about myself yet. Lauren got me this time.
1. I don’t make my bed as soon as I get up, but it must be made before my second cup of coffee. And Larry can’t make it – he leaves stuff all crooked and I just have to do it over.
2. I love olive juice. Pickle juice too, though not from any kind of sweet pickles because I don’t care for sweet pickles.
3. I can’t stand soggy cereal. I don’t eat cereal all that often, but when I do, I put the milk and splenda in the bowl first and then add a few bites’ worth at a time, so that I can get it eaten while it is still crunchy. The exception to this is shredded wheat which must sit until it is soggy.
4. I hate backtracking. If I am planning a day of errands, I mentally plan a route that creates a circle. It’s not something I have to give conscious thought to – it just happens.
5. I can’t stand crooked pictures on the wall. Sometimes when they are home, the girls will go around and put some just a bit out of alignment purely for the fun of seeing me straighten them. “I saw that-stop it!”
6. I am addicted to popcorn. This was a real problem when I was low carbing for 3 years. It has to be freshly popped on the stove though – I have some microwave popcorn in my pantry that is all low fat and good for you but I reach past it for the real deal.
7. If I start a book, I have to finish it, even if it is terrible. If I love a book, I will read it over and over again. I am on my third set of “The Lord Of the Rings” trilogy.
I don’t always tag people when I do a meme, but this time I am going to – some newer commenters or regulars who I don’t know any crazy quirky stuff about yet: Ruth, Laura-Peach, Bear Naked and Dr John. Anyone else who wishes is welcome to play along.
Thanks (I think LOL) for tagging me. I will try to do it on Saturday and will come back here to tell you when it’s done.
Ha.
I love stove topped cooked popcorn too! I also hate backtracking and try to do a 360 with errands.
ya lost me with the pickle juice. ACK!
have a nice day! =)
I have seen that cereal thing its pretty fascinating.
That cereal thing is hilarious.
I’ve worn out three paperback sets of LOTR too. If you root around in my archives for April or May, you’ll find a post about why the book means so much to me. It’s called the One Book meme or something similar.
Thanks for the tag. I’ll play the quirky things, but not today. I’m on deadline for a writing project. It’s just chance that I happened to see this because because I was only allowing myself to check a couple of blogs. I’ll let you know when mine is up.
Hey – I am like that about books too. It is very hard when the book is horrible. I think that there are only three books I have ever “abandoned” in my lifetime – one was Moby Dick.
Olive juice? Really? I think that is so funny. And pickle juice? Hilarious.
LOL! Yah, the popcorn thing ….. I’m rubbing my tongue raw today on the exposed filling of a chipped molar (1/4 of it gone) because of my love for popcorn. It was late last night, I didn’t need the snack, and the poor tasting microwave version was the quick answer …. never mind the unpopped kernals, just shove it in! …. well, they got me this time.
Seems to me, I remember when growing up, someone else in your family having to have fresh buttered popcorn every night. Does he still do that? I think that is how I got the habit started. He blames me, every time I see him, for instigating the breaking out his garage windows …(with some help from his son …. but he thinks it was my idea!) Maybe I can blame him for my popcorn habit. ;)
PS – I thought my daugther Emily was the only one that could read a book over and over again …. now I know someone else. I like to read Juvenile Easy picture books over and over again …. but we won’t go into that. (I have an excuse … a six year old … one of the best parts of having a late in life child … I don’t have to wait for grandchildren to be able read picture books again.)
i read books over and over again yoo! also i hate backtracking and do the circle thing also. as for popcorn if you can find hawaii popcorn company’s hawaiian hurricane popcorn mochi crunch & nori it’s the best popcorn ever.
First, thank you so much for not tagging me. I don’t mind picture meme’s but am not up to doing anything written.
I can’t stand the pictures when they’re off kilter. I used to visit a family and the children were of my quirk and went to great lengths to tease me about it. I had to pretend I was ‘angry’.
I’ll put a book down and never pick it up again if I hate it.
And I read the Rings trilogy several times, too. Loved it. And had a huge crush on Aragorn. Viggo was perfect in the role, too.
What is it about the LOTR that makes people read them over and over again? The movies are also some of the few DVDs that we have actually purchased – we usually only get them through Netflix, but we knew we would watch these over and over. Viggo was great in that Kate – have you seen “Eastern Promises”? Not for the faint of heart violence-wise but it will just blow you away.
Thanks to all the tagees – let me know when you have posted your wierdness so I can come and make sure everyone else is worse than me.
krysta – thanks for the hint – I will look for it!
I will post it after the 4th… I have several tags in my archives with some quirks about me LOL but i get a kick out of these so I will be sure to let you know …
have a great 4th!
HUgs Laura
I always drank the pickle juice as a kid because I like the taste (tastes like pickles) and hated to see it go to waste. Can’t get behind you on the olive thing. Oh, and I’m addicted to your popcorn, I can see why you’d be also. I generally do that with books, though if I put them down for any reason I’ll often abandon them for a while, whether they’re good or bad. Good thing I usually finish them before a shiny object or a squirrel distracts me.
I don’t mind if the cereal is soggy. But, I want the milk ice cold. So, IF i eat cereal, I eat it in small amounts and pour the milk in fresh from the fridge each time so it will be cold.
Since I try to low carb, I don’t eat much cereal and beside, the milk thing makes it too much trouble. :>)
