This time of year, mine grows hostas. And some Lady Betty Balfour clematis that I am trying to root, and a couple daylilies, some Caladium bulbs I am hoping will actually grow sometime before next Christmas and a few assorted other things that need to wait a bit before planting. But mostly hostas.
I also just had to show you this. I have never once had a single tulip grow in my yard ever. The moles and other varmits get them every time. Last Easter, my son in law Jason brought me these tulips in a pot and last summer I set them out. I was sure I was just supplying some winter feed for a hungry rodent, but this spring they are putting on a beautiful show.
That son in law of yours is something special.
Love your bathtub shot. My mom used to put her belove houseplants in the tub with a little water in the bottom, and cover them with plastic, ala greenhouse, when she and Dad went on vacation! That was in lieu of asking me “the kiss of death to house plants” to water them for her! :(
um… so where exactly do you BATHE if your tub is full of plants? Just curious.
My mom and I should be heading to the local greenhouse this week to pick up our bedding plants. They will have to spend a few more weeks in my greenhouse before I can plant them but it will be fun to see living things again!
addhumor – many a houseplant has spent our vacations is that very tub!
Tara – we have a shower! You would think people would use a jetted tub more, but hardly ever use this one – except for plants :)
Hoorah for your tulip! But moles eat them? I just planted some bulbs. Yours is beautiful!
Moles love tulips – like I love lobster, moles love tulips.
About the only thing my bathtub grows is mildew!
Yes, I use softscrub and comet to get rid of the things my bathtub grows, but that is a Great idea. You obviously have good natural light over your tub, which I don’t.
Oh, if you have any advice for getting rid of moles, let me know, please! I am just about going crazy with the holes in my yard!
Beautiful tulip!
Your bathtub is more functional than mine!
some magical bathtub you got there. =)
I am loving the creative use of the bathtub. I never knew about this technique, but will certainly copy you!
What a gorgeous tulip!! Yowza! Eye candy indeed~
Ha! You got one! Wonderful news, D!
This tulip is LOVELY! I hope this comment works, it’s my third try!
