Photo Facts

I was tagged for this meme by Flea
I have to post 5 facts about myself, each of which must be illustrated by a photo.

This is my sister Weezee and me sitting on the front steps of the house where we grew up. It was – and is – a typical small town neighborhood with piles of children, nosy old ladies, dogs that bit, and our grandmother’s old lady underwear flapping in the breeze on her clothesline next door. I still live fairly close – about 25 minutes away from this very spot.

This is one of my absolute favorite places on earth – Niagara Falls. This was taken of the Canadian Falls, from Goat Island. [again with the goats!] Lar and I had both been here growing up, but never together until the kids sent us for our 30th anniversary. It amazes me how many people just walk up to the edge, snap a few photos and off they go. Maybe they look at the pics a long time later on? I could stand and watch it all day. It is, after all, water running over rocks and we know how much I love that!

This little bunny is in my back shade garden. He reminds me of my grandmother who loved Peter Rabbit [maybe even a little more than a grown woman really should] and never tired of reading that book to us. He makes me happy.

This is one of my very favorite possessions – my Bodum French Press coffee pot. There is no way on earth to make a better cup of coffee than in a French press. I love it to distraction. [If you decide you must have one and you use my little Amazon search thing over there on the left, I make a nickel or so – just saying’] And Flea – you will notice from this pic that Fred and Bessie would probably feel pretty at home here at casa dlyn. Lauren was maybe 9 or 10 when she saved up her allowance to buy me that little cow soap dispenser you see – and he is not without bovine company around here if you get my drift. I wonder how often a snooty French press gets to share counter space with a decidedly un-chic ceramic cow soap dispenser? And come back tomorrow for the recipe for those muffins.

And finally, it has been a long winter – I think I need a little sun

For this one, I am tagging:Kate at Chronicles of a Country Girl – can’t wait to see her photos. My sister Weezee cause she will have fun with it. Scarlett at I’m no belle, cause she is nuts. And Marie, who just celebrated her 100th post with a 100 point meme – she can can probably come up with a few photos to illustrate 5 of them. Finally Ashleigh at My trivial ramblings ’cause the girl just got new camera – so she can show it off to us!
The rules for this meme are as follows:

Oh! Oh! Oh! The French press is MY favorite possession ever in the whole wide world! I have a little electric tea kettle for heating my water. I LOVE the Bodum! I was in Starbucks last night with Hunny and hinted that I’d like the single serve carry press for Mother’s Day. Mmmmm. Love my coffee and press.

Yes, the cows would feel at home in your kitchen. Alright, we’ll have to have another travel time! Maybe sometime in April?

  2. dlyn says:

How do they feel about small children? Cause if they get migraines or anything from that, they may want to wait a few weeks to schedule their trip.

  3. Ashmystir says:

Well shucks Dlyn! I’ll get right to work on my homework assignment. lol. Thanks for checking out my blog. =)

Get out in that sun girl. You look like death warmed over. lol.

  4. Karen says:

Cool meme! I love the first picture of the two of you as kids. And the French press has me quite intrigued.

  5. Steph says:

I too could sit and watch the falls forever. I got married there, and I’ve been wanting to go back ever since.

  6. Weezee says:

We were cute kids! I think that look on my face was “I never get to hold the puppy!”
You look fabulous even in black & white. I’ll get on this meme but need to give it a little thought.

  7. Scarlett Wanna Be says:

I bet that French press makes you feel fancy! When I saw your bunny, I started to clap, he’s a cutie. I will gladly do your photo tag…I’ll have to think about which pictures I haven’t used on my blog yet. Thanks for thinking of me.

  8. Country Girl says:

There’s nothing like pressure. But I will do my bestest to attend to my duty.

You look like a movie star.

  9. Kellan says:

Great picture of you and your sister (I didn’t know you and Weezee were sisters – how cool!!). The other pictures are great too and the one of you is beautiful. That looks like a photo that would be on the back of a book – are you an author? Nice to see you.

Have a good day – Kellan

  10. Marie says:

Cool meme! I’ll get to work on mine!

  11. CM says:

Hi! Awwww…..you both are so cute! My little couzies! You kind of look like refugee children. Love the braids and the hat! Yah, I’d have to say Dlyn looks like …..”just try and take this puppy from me …. dont’ even touch it!”…. and now you’re best friends!

The falls picture is gorgeous! The colors are so pretty. Makes me want to go there …. never been. It does seem like rocks and water are a favorite photo subject ….. what a contrast between photos.

Death warmed over? …. you’re beautiful! I agree about the back of a book author’s photo. When you publish The Best of Dlyn’s Blog Posts someday you can use this photo. (Put the recipes in a separate book please ….. a cook book …. I’ll buy and give it to you know who.)

The post today really made me smile!

I’m an author in my own mind – or something like that, anyway. It would just be more of the same drivel you can read here for free every day. I will put the pic in my sidebar and then you can pretend you are reading some thing by an actual author. Don’t ask to borrow money though, cause unlike an actual author, I don’t have any.

And Scarlett – I do feel all fancy when I drink french press coffee. To provide the proper ambiance, I put on a beret and say “wee” a lot, which is, in case you didn’t know, French for “yes”

My first thought (since it was at the end of the post)is: –wow, you are lovely! And I like the b&w photo. THEN, 2nd thought: being the water freak that I am, I adore your photo of the falls. I can’t believe someone would walk up, snap a shot and leave– oh wait, I’m married to that someone. I’d be tempted to stick my feet in it. What a fun post to get to know you with!

  14. Ashmystir says:

Mission accomplished. Homework assignment done. May I be excused now? =)

  15. Patriot says:

That first picture is absolutely adorable and the second is beautiful!

Hi again! I don’t mean to bug you at all, but I wanted to let you know about my giveaway this week – it’s for a Go-Ped Scooter!! I just thought you might be interested! Have a great week!

  16. kacey says:

hm, we have a cow thing going on at our house too…

I have a few things tucked into my shade garden too…which I call my zen garden.

  17. Asthmagirl says:

I’ve never been to Niagra falls but I think I’d enjoy it! I love your bunny!

  18. Burgh Baby's Mom says:

I’m a sucker for garden shots (you probably figured that out by now). I love the bunny. He reminds me of the concrete kitty that guards my holly bushes in the backyard.
