Anything like gingerbread always reminds me of visting my Granma. She loved gingerbread and always had some around when company came calling. She made this creamy lemon sauce to go on it which was so delicious. I guess I need to give this a try and maybe pretend for a little while that she is still here. thanks, Donalyn!
Sallie – what a great memory! I learned to love baking from my grandmother and Mom both. And my Mom made that same sauce!
I lie your gingerbread loaf, simple but very distinctive flavour! It’s nice that you can meet with other bloggers and share ideas and problems…
Donalyn, please cut me a couple of slices, with melting butter of course. This looks absolutely delicious.
Rita – I agree! We have formed nice friendships and learn a lot from each other.
Hester – you got it! :)
So glad to find your recipe…will be giving it a try! The last recipe I used…just wasn’t very good….ended up throwing the bread out. We had a bumper crop of summer squash this year and I froze batches of 2 cups of squash…so excited you shared the recipe!! Blessings, K
Thanks Kay – I am sure this will work well with frozen squash as well, though you may want to drain it a bit because it will be a little more watery than fresh. I try to test my recipes multiple times before posting them, because I hate hearing that something didn’t work for somebody. Thanks for stopping by!
This looks so moist and tasty – wish I had a piece right now!
That looks delightful. You do turn a nice phrase and though I know how hard you work, your writing always gives the impression of flowing freely and effortlessly, always an enjoyable read.
Thanks Carla – I wish you were here to have one :)
Aw – thanks Louise! [in the interest of full disclosure, Louise is my sister, so she has to be nice :) You should go and check out her blog too – especially if you have a dog!]
Never tried this before, but by the look of it I can tell that it is good. I’ll bake one soon! :)
This caught my eye on Pinterest, and I had to come and take a look. Seems really easy, so I am going to give it a try. I love your blog by the way and will be back!
It looks really delicious and moist! A wonderfully spicy bread.
Cheers,
Rosa
The last couple of days have put me in Fall mood, and I am looking forward to the bounty of the season. happy to try this!
Going to try this out today! I noticed the ingredients do not list vanilla, but in your instructions you said “beat in eggs and vanilla.” I’m wondering how much vanilla- maybe a teaspoon?
Yes Jenn – a teaspoon – thanks for the heads up!
