The sky is amazing this morning.
I had a “To Do” list over the weekend and completed all but one of the tasks listed thereon. The weather was just too horrible to be out putting up lights. Larry was just heartbroken that he didn’t get to assist me in this endeavor. He hid it pretty well when I brought up the fact that it was too nasty to be out, but deep down, I know he wants to see our new porch festooned with lights and garland. He is all about the festooning, that Larry.
I did get a lot of the indoor decorations up. I love this little nativity set.
I got it a few years ago when I was looking for one to send to Lauren in Hawaii where I think all the nativity sets come with palm trees. Everyone knows that nativity sets should have pine boughs in them, just like they did back when Jesus was born.
Anyway, when I found this one for Lauren, I decided to replace our old one as well, since it was looking a little worse for wear. One reason it had suffered abuse was because of my cat Frisco. I always suspected her of having atheistic leanings, which may have explained why she felt compelled to abuse that particular Christmas decoration. Each morning found the cast of characters in disarray and on one singularly traumatic morning, I found the shepherd boy floating face down in the dog’s water dish.
This however, is my all-time favorite Christmas decoration.Larry’s Mom gave them to me a few years ago and I absolutely love them. I had admired her set of them for years, a fact she said she never realized. This set came from her vast store of yard sale finds and though I have told her numerous times how much I like them, she still occasionally apologizes for the fact they were now new when she gave them to me. [we will get into all of that some other time] There are 4 of them, but there was a glare on one side of the photo and I don’t have all day, so I cropped the glarey ones out. They are maybe 20 years old – by a company called International Christmas and I am keeping my eye out for more sets of them to give the girls.
I did get all of our Christmas music ripped to the computer, so we can now listen to about 20 hours of uninterrupted seasonal tune-age. Next weekend – the tree!

I laughed out loud when I read this.
I would have been afraid to sleep after that. We would have had to sleep in shifts.

I had to laugh, too, about Frisco. That is just too funny! Is that why you’re not a cat fancier? :D

No, not really. I actually love cats but they are more difficult to deal with when you travel than Riley is and I just can’t stand the litter box smell. I miss having them actually, but Riley is high enough maintenance for me.
