Learning a new job, keeping up [not!] with submissions to DessertStalking, and the working at the new job have conspired to give me little spare time this last month or so. By the end of the day, I have no creative spark left in me. I’m tired of thinking, and tired of doing and just plain tired. So we sit out on the porch and watch night fall. A pretty awesome way to end a day, if you ask me. Yesterday morning, the garden looked too inviting to pass up, so I ran out there in my jammies and grabbed a few shots before beginning the rest of my day. The dry weather we had in May is really showing up in the daylilies now. Even though we have a well, and a very abundant water supply, I have this thing about watering established plants, and feeling like I am babying them too much. I think you should plant what is going to prosper wherever you live, without having to drag out the hose to keep them from falling over dead if we go a few weeks with no rain. But…… right now I am feeling a little remorse, because things could be blooming a little better. It’s all relative though.<br \/>\nH. ‘Quilt Patch’<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/quiltpatch.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"quiltpatch\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4602\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/quiltpatch.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/quiltpatch-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/quiltpatch-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Because once they all start blooming, it is difficult to believe they could be any more beautiful than they are.<br \/>\nH. ‘Night Beacon’ <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/nightbeacon.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"night beacon daylily\" width=\"600\" height=\"436\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4601\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/nightbeacon.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/nightbeacon-150x109.jpg 150w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/nightbeacon-300x218.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>If watching the sun go down is the best way to end the day, I can think of no better way to begin one, than to wander around out here for awhile.<br \/>\nH. ‘Bountiful Valley’<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/bountifulvalley.jpg\" alt=\"daylily bountiful valley\" title=\"daylily bountiful valley\" width=\"597\" height=\"441\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4594\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/bountifulvalley.jpg 597w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/bountifulvalley-150x110.jpg 150w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/bountifulvalley-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 597px) 100vw, 597px\" \/>And it’s not just daylilies around here – this is growing in a pot, along with some rosemary. I like to keep some herbs growing close to the house, in easy reach when I need them. I love brushing past the rosemary while I’m working out there, releasing the frangrance and getting me thinking about what veggies in the garden might be happy to share a plate with some rosemary at dinner tonight. The plant with the little yellow flowers is called Biden’s Ferulifolia, ‘Peter’s Gold Carpet’, and I got it for a buck at an end of season sale. It looks happy that I brought it home with me, doesn’t it?<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4593\" title=\"bidens ferulifolia peter's gold carpet\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/bidens.jpg\" alt=\"bidens ferulifolia peter's gold carpet\" width=\"600\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/bidens.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/bidens-150x111.jpg 150w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/bidens-300x222.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Now that things are calming down for me a bit, I will have a little more time to cook, and to take more photos and no doubt to come here jabber about this and that.
