\"redSo, with a sprained knee, I am kind of stuck inside the house. It is icy and snowy outdoors, meaning it’s not safe to go out there, no matter how pretty it is and what you might like to go and take photos of. I’ve been too out of sorts to concentrate on cooking much of anything, other than old standbys, most of which I’m not that interested in blogging about. I’m pretty good at feeling sorry for myself, but even that gets boring after awhile. So – I figure I should put this time to good use and maybe clear some extraneous photos from my hard drive. An admirable goal at the first of the year, to be sure. This chore inevitably leads to repeatedly thinking “WHAT was I thinking when I took this?” Like the 35 photos I took of this glass of wine. Did I have something in mind when I took it? Just got carried away? What? I’m going to look at it again after cocktail hour later on, to see if something comes to me then.<\/p>\n

And there are a lot of photos of these two. We kept Daisy twice this past year, while Ellyn & Jason and the kids went away. I’m sure Riley had some sort of blog post in mind when he asked me to take these, but we never got around to actually doing it. This photo is the calm before the storm. It’s called “Come here so I can bite on you. No – you come here, so I can bite on you. No – I will bite you. No – I will bite you.”\"dogs<\/p>\n

Yup – my new-at-the-time laptop. Pretty exciting I guess. 14 photos of it. Saved on my hard drive. Backed-up on the external even. Wouldn’t want lose these, now would we? Nosiree.\"\"Then, just when I start thinking I am getting somewhere, I run across a single photo of a pear. I have no idea what possesed me to take a photo of it. Just one shot – nothing before or after to shed any light on “why<\/em>“. Then, as my finger is hovering over the delete button, I decide to bring it over to my graphics program, to play with it a little. Increase the drama of the lighting, crop it just so, and then bring in a texture [Skeletal Mess’s<\/a> “Painterly Effect”], set to “soft light” fiddle with the contrast, brush some of of the textture off, burn the edge, add a bit of text. Then, forget where it was to begin with, so I can’t show a “before” shot. I never did get back to cleaning my hard drive off.\"\"On the positive side though, my knee is much better than it was, and though it still hurts a lot, I am beginning to see that I will, as some point, be restored to full vigor. Or what passes for it, in my case. A project that has been muddling along seems to be poised for completion. I have some good ideas for things to cook. The days are getting noticeably longer. Life goes on… <\/p>\n
