{"id":2881,"date":"2009-08-31T08:45:16","date_gmt":"2009-08-31T12:45:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/?p=2881"},"modified":"2009-12-29T21:34:31","modified_gmt":"2009-12-30T02:34:31","slug":"a-birthday-celebration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dlynz.com\/?p=2881","title":{"rendered":"A Birthday Celebration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday was Larry&#8217;s Birthday, and though we had a lot to get done around home, later on in the day, we headed out for some merriment. <\/p>\n<p>As he often does, Larry had noticed something on his way home from work, that he thought I might enjoy photographing &#8211; a huge field of sunflowers up on one the hills around us.  So, we took a little detour to check it out.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/sunflowers1.jpg\" alt=\"sunflowers1\" title=\"sunflowers1\" width=\"600\" height=\"285\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2882\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/sunflowers1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/sunflowers1-300x142.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>We had planned to hike up through the gorge that leads to this waterfall, but we had so much rain the couple days before that we thought it might be too wet in there.  Instead, we cheated and drove up to the overlook.  This is Taughannock Falls, above Cayuga Lake.  At 215 feet, it is the highest free-falling water fall in the Northeast United States.  Yes, higher than Niagara Falls, which is about 185 or so.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/falls2.jpg\" alt=\"falls2\" title=\"falls2\" width=\"600\" height=\"494\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2883\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/falls2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/falls2-300x247.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Then we went to our new favorite restaurant.  We are hoping maybe the owners can be convinced that they should adopt us and let us live here.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/maxies.jpg\" alt=\"maxies\" title=\"maxies\" width=\"600\" height=\"409\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2884\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/maxies.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/maxies-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>We had some of these and a fabulous meal.
