{"id":1232,"date":"2009-03-25T09:01:37","date_gmt":"2009-03-25T13:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/?p=1232"},"modified":"2009-03-25T09:01:37","modified_gmt":"2009-03-25T13:01:37","slug":"my-big-fat-new-invention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dlynz.com\/?p=1232","title":{"rendered":"My Big Fat New Invention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m a dedicated Googler.\u00a0 For everything from the lyrics to an obscure 60&#8217;s\u00a0folk song, to the proper ingredients for tsatsiki, to finding the identity of that plant I saw during my walk the other day.\u00a0\u00a0 If I want to know something, my first impulse is to Google it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, a lot of what I want to know is not contained within the confines of cyber-space.\u00a0 It is located in much more difficult place to navigate.\u00a0 A dark and scary place where things tend to skitter away when you try to grasp them.\u00a0 A place wherein dwell thousands of\u00a0useless bits of information, which can surface with astonishing speed while watching Jeopardy.\u00a0 Little bits of vitally important fact on the other hand, seem to swirl in an endless eddy of a molasses-like pool.\u00a0 They almost come up to where you can see them, only to be sucked back down into the deep.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thus, my new invention.\u00a0 For those who may not spend hours each day, slacking off on the internet, &#8220;IRL&#8221; stands for <strong>In Real Life<\/strong>, a term used to refer to those things which occur outside chat rooms, bulletin boards, gaming sites\u00a0and blogs.\u00a0\u00a0 I present, for your edification- Google IRL 1.1:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1234\" title=\"google0\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/google0.jpg\" alt=\"google0\" width=\"600\" height=\"248\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/google0.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/google0-300x124.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>I don&#8217;t quite have the interface worked out yet, but this little gem will change everything.\u00a0\u00a0 Now, there will be no fact that you can&#8217;t retrieve.\u00a0 Great Aunt Mabel&#8217;s, second husband&#8217;s name?\u00a0 You know, the guy who wore bedroom slippers to Uncle Milton&#8217;s funeral?\u00a0 Just ask Google IRL and within milliseconds, that information can be at your fingertips.\u00a0\u00a0 For my money though &#8211; finding things is where this is going to really shine.
