I hab a code

No no, not a c-o-d-e! I hab a code! By dose id all stubbed up. By ears are all buzzy. Uck.

I’m on my second box of Puffs Plus and even those are starting to feel like heavy grit sandpaper. And here’s how you know I am sick – I don’t want to eat anything. But, I will persevere. Gotta work today, but at least I will be here at home and not spreading my germs around to other people.

There are two results of spending a weekend with a cold. Number one is I got nothing. I bet you were kinda figuring that out on your own by now. The rambling probably gave me away. The biggest Monday morning nightmare [if you can have a nightmare in the morning] for someone with a blog – no content! Never fear – a lack of quality stuff to blog about has never stopped me before and I see no reason to change that now.

The second result is that, I used the time to really get to work on moving my blog to my own domain [and yes I will be master – or mistress, I guess – there] and getting WordPress all installed and functioning properly. I am working to make things a little more accessible, like categorizing the recipes by type, which is something I can’t really do very easily with Blogger. I have lots of pretty cool stuff coming up in the next year or so and getting the blog moved is the first step.

But a blog is nothing without the people who come to read it. Blogging is a very social activity and I think one of the reasons it has become so popular is that it is participatory. You don’t just read a blog. By commenting, you become part of it, because comments actually become another paragraph in the post.

So – I have two questions for you today. Since my brain is too fuzzy to think up anything really interesting to say, I will let you guys fill in for me. Didn’t think I was going to put you to work this morning, did you?

1. What keeps you blogging?
2. What do you look for in a blog that keeps you coming back?

I can’t wait to see what you all have to say about this. I will share my answers tomorrow. And because you were patient with my meandering mind this morning, here is a little peek at things to come:

Day 3 of the cold that ate my brain

Can I possibly be a bigger baby about this? I hope not. Anyway – I know I usually post a recipe on Saturday, but the idea writing about food has about as much appeal as eating any does. So, I am going to sit here at my desk, wrapped in an afghan, waching the birds at the feeder, and actually get around to visit some of your blogs for a change. Don’t worry, I’ll bring my own Kleenex.

25 things – but not about me I guess

As I did last week, I am killing two birds with one stone. This tag, again, is actually from Facebook, but why not use it here too? I promise not to tag any of you though – unless we happen to be friends on Facebook that is. [and if we aren’t – why not? Go friend me up whydoncha?]
1. I am doing this while I watch Survivor.
2. Survivor is my guilty pleasure – I have watched every season.
3. I would starve to death on Survivor because I can’t stand fish and they always eat fish.
4. Though tonight, someone just ate a worm.
5. Sometimes I wonder if the people on the show have ever watched it before being on it themselves.
6. Who would go on Survivor without learning how to start a fire with a flint?
7. Evidently just about everyone.
8. They could Google it for Pete’s sake! See —> Fire
9. If you are famous, don’t tell anyone. Don’t tell them about your husband either. They get all “Well I need the money more than they do!”
10. Though Survivor isn’t a government entitlement program – you should win cause your Survived, not cause you need it the most. Buncha whiners.
11. Honestly – give these people wetsuits instead of bikinis. Save on the the blurring technology.
12. See – stuff for fishing. They never give them a gun so they can go shoot a steer and have steak.
13. I have a nasty head cold.
14. and a fever.
15. My head feels like a big ‘ole spongy watermelon.
16. I blame this rambling, incoherent post on the fever.
17. And it has turned into 25 things about Survivor, not 25 things about me.surv
18. So I probably can’t use it on Facebook after all.
19. Back to the show
20. Uh-oh, honey.
21. If you are on Survivor, never never never let the camera guy catch you saying “I know I’m not going tonight!”
22. Like, never.
23. Is Jeff Probst still with that woman from the season in Vanuatu?
24. Turns out, you can Google that too – no, he is not.
25. The tribe has spoken – this is my post for Friday.

Taking a sick day

We get those in blogdom, right? These, along with Tylenol and cough syrup are my new best friends.

I knew yesterday that a cold was “catching up to me” as Lauren always used to say. Or maybe it is dengue fever or jungle bunganitis. So I wasn’t surprised when I woke up at 3:00AM with a crashing headache and a bad cough – a lovely combo for sure. Anyway – I am going to eat oranges and take vitamins and feel sorry for myself all day. See you tomorrow, assuming I don’t have ebola or bird flu or malaria or leprosy or ……
Now, go wash your hands – this blog is just crawling with germs!
