It is my own fake version. But it is a lot cheaper and so easy that there is no reason to pay 3 times as much for one of the name brands. I eat non-fat yogurt and with this method, even non-fat will have a rich, creamy taste and texture. I start with a large container of plain yogurt – low fat or full fat will, of course, work just as well.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2702\" title=\"17\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/17.jpg\" alt=\"17\" width=\"600\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/17.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/17-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>I use coffee filters to line my mesh strainer. I usually keep a package of basket type filters around for this, but I am out of those, so I tore a cone filter in half and overlapped it.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2703\" title=\"27\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/27.jpg\" alt=\"27\" width=\"600\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/27.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/27-300x177.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>There is a bit of liquid on top of the yogurt when I open it, so we may as well carefully pour that off.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2704\" title=\"37\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/37.jpg\" alt=\"37\" width=\"600\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/37.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/37-300x177.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Empty the yogurt into the strainer.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2705\" title=\"47\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/47.jpg\" alt=\"47\" width=\"600\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/47.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/47-300x177.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Cover with plastic wrap. Put in the fridge for a few hours or up to overnight, depending on how thick you want it to be. I confess that I don’t even put it in the fridge. It drains faster at room temperature, and for just a few hours it is safe. If I am leaving it overnight, I do refrigerate it.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2706\" title=\"56\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/56.jpg\" alt=\"56\" width=\"600\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/56.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/56-300x177.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>After 2 or 3 hours, it will reduced in volume by about 1\/3 – just right for eating with fruit, which is what we are going to do with this batch.
