We don&#8217;t have AC, so heating up the house, even to bake some really yummy cookies is pretty much out of the question. But it has stayed cooler than normal this year, so I thought I would grace Larry&#8217;s Father&#8217;s Day with some cookies. I wanted to make blonde brownies, and he loves fruity cookies, so I looked to see what I had. Dried cranberries and almonds &#8211; perfect! Toast the almonds ahead of time, so that they have time to cool before adding them to the batter.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2394\" title=\"23\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/23.jpg\" alt=\"23\" width=\"600\" height=\"382\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/23.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/23-300x191.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>This is a pretty standard cookie recipe &#8211; cream this, add that, mix in some other stuff and you are all set. So, here we go.<br \/>\nPreheat oven to 350\u00ba<br \/>\nCream<br \/>\n1 cup soft butter<br \/>\nAdd<br \/>\n1 cup light brown sugar<br \/>\n1 cup white granulated sugar<br \/>\nCream until very fluffy<br \/>\nBeat in<br \/>\n2 eggs<br \/>\n2 teaspoons vanilla extract [the real deal, not imitation]<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2393\" title=\"14\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/14.jpg\" alt=\"14\" width=\"600\" height=\"382\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/14.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/14-300x191.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Add<br \/>\n2 cups all purpose flour<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n1 1\/4 teaspoon baking powder<br \/>\nWhen that is thoroughly incorporated, stir in<br \/>\n6 ounces of dried cranberries<br \/>\n6 ounces of toasted, coarsely chopped almonds<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2395\" title=\"33\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/33.jpg\" alt=\"33\" width=\"600\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/33.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/33-300x185.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Spread evenly in a well greased 9&#215;13 inch baking dish<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2396\" title=\"43\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/43.jpg\" alt=\"43\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/43.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/43-300x187.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Bake in 305\u00ba for about 40 minutes, turning halfway through baking time. The top should be nicely golden brown and a toothpick inserted near the center should come out clean.
