{"id":1997,"date":"2009-05-13T08:42:54","date_gmt":"2009-05-13T12:42:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/?p=1997"},"modified":"2009-05-13T10:02:08","modified_gmt":"2009-05-13T14:02:08","slug":"pine-siskin-tells-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/?p=1997","title":{"rendered":"Pine Siskin Tells All"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ok &#8211; not really.\u00a0 Frankly, I am not sure how much there is to tell.<br \/>\nBut I had a good time with this one, whose dinner I rudely interrupted.<br \/>\nA Pine Siskin looks pretty uninteresting from this angle. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1998\" title=\"pine_siskin3\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/pine_siskin3.jpg\" alt=\"pine_siskin3\" width=\"600\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/pine_siskin3.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/pine_siskin3-300x217.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>I convinced him to turn around, so we could see his good side. He made sure to keep his eye on me though. This looks like a candidate for the <a href=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/?p=241\" target=\"_blank\">butt files<\/a>.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1999\" title=\"pine_siskin4\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/pine_siskin4.jpg\" alt=\"pine_siskin4\" width=\"600\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/pine_siskin4.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/pine_siskin4-300x217.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Pine Siskins are finches, and in the winter they can be difficult to differentiate from Goldfinches, who lose most of their yellow. Pine Siskins keep their little yellow wing and tail spots though. They are not quite as bold as Chickadees, who will eat from my hand without much encouragement, but they aren&#8217;t very shy either. I had the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/207359-USA\/Nikon_1928_Zoom_Telephoto_AF_Zoom.html\/BI\/4786\/KBID\/5297\" target=\"_blank\">70-300mm lens <\/a>on and I had to back up to get this shot, because he came so close.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2000\" title=\"pine_siskin\" src=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/pine_siskin.jpg\" alt=\"pine_siskin\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/pine_siskin.jpg 600w, http:\/\/dlynz.com\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/pine_siskin-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>I suppose I was actually the close one, since this is a finch feeder, and he is a finch.
